This article presents new kinetic studies of the disproportionation I(+ 3) and its oxidation by H2O2. It also provides an update previously proposed model for reactions iodine compounds with numbers from ? 1 to + 5 each other explains kinetics several reactions, including We show that reduction HOI H2O2 results \({\text{HOI }} {\text{ H}}_{{2}} {\text{O}}_{{2}} \to {\text{HOOI {\text{O}}\) followed reversible reaction \({\text{HOOI}} \rightleftharpoons {\text{I}}^{ - } H}}^{ O}}_{{2}}\). An analysis previous measurements constant k(HOI H2O2) large differences between values in literature gives = 6 M?1 s?1. The reversibility O}}_{{2}}\) suggests a explanation effect oxygen on Bray–Liebhafsky reaction. would oxidize HOOI radical mechanism.
